The memorial exhibition is housed in a small two-story villa built in the "Swiss" style, where Ivan Franko lived for the last 14 years of his life. In this exposition, the atmosphere of the life of the writer and his family is reproduced in detail. In refined and stylish, although not luxurious, interiors, among personal belongings, old books and works of art, you can feel the spirit of a person who has become a symbol of an entire era. After passing through the rooms, visitors will learn about the tastes and preferences of the owners of the house, who combined the traditions of the Ukrainian nobility with almost peasant simplicity, and family joys with continuous intellectual work.

Owning his own house was a long-awaited dream of Ivan Franko, who for many years years had to rent housing for his family. The impetus for its implementation was a small sum of money, which the writer received as a gift during the 1898 celebration of his 25th anniversary of literary and public activity.

The construction of the villa lasted from 1900 to 1902. Olga Franko, the writer′s wife, wanted the house to be designed on the model of the Kyiv house of the prominent historian Volodymyr Antonovych. The surviving photographs show the similarity of both buildings.

The walls of the Frank house were built by the Polish master Ceslewicz and the famous Lviv builder Martyn Zahodny. On the first floor of the villa, in addition to a small veranda, an entrance hall, kitchen, hall and dressing room, there are five rooms: a library, Ivan Franko′s bedroom, a dining room, a women′s room and a study-salon; on the second floor there are two rooms: the room of Olga Franko and the room of sons Taras and Peter.
