Shevchenkivskyi Hai

The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life named after Klymenty Sheptytsky (also known as Shevchenkivskyi Grove) is an open-air museum, an open-air museum in Lviv.

The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life named after Klymenty Sheptytsky is located on the wooded hills of the Lviv Plateau (part Podilsky Vysochyna), in the north-eastern part of the city, in the area of ​​Kaiserwald, on the territory of the landscape park "Znesinnia". Nearby (to the west) is the park "High Castle".

The museum successfully combines the hilly landscape, restored vegetation of the Carpathians and carefully transferred historical buildings from various regions of Western Ukraine. The territory of the park is about 84 hectares.

The exposition of the museum includes 124 architectural monuments, which are united in 54 estates. The Museum has 4 exhibition halls. Two of them have permanent exposure. About 20,000 objects of everyday life and applied art are in the museum′s permanent exhibition and storage.

The territory of the museum with an area of ​​36 hectares is conventionally divided into six ethnographic zones. Each zone is a mini-village consisting of 15-20 monuments of folk architecture. Household and household items, agricultural remains, vehicles and craft tools are placed in residential and commercial premises. Six such mini-villages have the names: "Boykivshchyna", "Lemkivshchyna", "Hutsulshchyna", "Bukovyna", and "Podillya". 34; and Lviv region, and the last three are rarely visited by tourists, because they are not very informative.

Of the more than 120 architectural monuments from the western regions of Ukraine, these are wooden church The oldest exhibit is a peasant hut from 1749. There is also a forge, a school, a sawmill, a cloth mill, a water mill and a windmill.
