The Bernardine Monastery in Lviv is a complex of religious buildings located on Rynok Square, 1. It is one of the most beautiful and famous monasteries in Lviv.
History
The Bernardine Monastery was founded in 1600 with the assistance of the Polish king Sigismund III Vasa. The first church and monastery were built in the Renaissance style.
In the 17th century, the monastery was rebuilt in the Baroque style. During this period, new churches, monastery cells and other buildings were built.
In the 18th century, the monastery was damaged during a fire. It was restored in the 1740s.
